Iran Today

Iran is a country with a total area of 1648195 km2. Located in Southwest Asia and the Middle east. Iran is neighboring with Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iraq. This country has many Fossil and Mines and Wells of Oil and Gas due to the presence of the Caspian Sea from the north, Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea from the south. Country divisions in Iran are Ostan (Province), Shahrestan (County), Bakhsh(District) and Dehestan (Rural District). This country includes 31 provinces, 420 counties, 2589 rural districts. 

In the past, the political, social and economic issues were dominated by the king. People did not play any role in government decisions. In 1911, the Constitutional Revolution occurred in Iran. This revolution led to the formation of a parliament. In 1978, The Islamic Revolution won. In the Islamic Republic of Iran, a constitution was written. The council is a prerequisite for legislation. Their members are elected every four years by the people.  The Judicial system is in charge of supporting individual and social rights of citizens and observing the establishing of rules, looking into grievances, punishing different crimes, bringing justice and legitimate freedoms. The expediency Discernment Council is one of the bodies in the Islamic Republic of Iran that has been established since 1988.


Modernity in Iran

Modernity entered Iran during the Qajar era. Abas Mirza, the Iranian prince noticed modernity in the West in the Tran-Russia war. He sent merchants and students to the West to study science. Modernity entered a new stage at the time of Amir Kabir's prime minister. Amir Kabir is the founder of the reformed organization and the founder of western modernity in Iran. After Naser Al-Din Shah Qajar returned from Europe. He sent students to Europe to study laws, legislations and to create different ministries. The development of cities, streets, vehicle imports, and the constitutional revolution is the result of Europe. Modernity continued during the Pahlavi era. The construction of roads, railways and universities are one of the reforms of that era. Iranians have never completely rejected the constitutional revolution or modernity with their strong belief in Islam. In Iran, modernity was integrated with religion. And it was begun to renovation, reform, the new system of government and Shia beliefs.


 Women in Iran

Women in Iran have long been involved in social and political activities. They have succeeded in universities and politics. With the formation of the Islamic Republic, a new form of clothing for women is used. That includes Manto (long sleeve dress) with a headwear. Although many women consider Chador (black fabric covering the whole body like a cloak) as the complete Hijab with the increasing activity of women in the community. Especially in large cities, marriage is out of the traditional form. But in other cities, the traditional form of marriage continue to prevail. That must still be with the decision of the girl.
