Si-o-Se (33) Pol

It’s a bridge made by the order of Allah-Verdi Khan, a favorite general of Shah Abbas, famous for its 33 spans, which is the reason behind the name 33-Pol. One of the 11 bridges in Isfahan and the longest one with almost 300 m. length. It is the most famous example of the Safavid bridge (stone double-deck arch bridge) which was used as both bridge and dam and is still used to hold water. At the beginning of the bridge, where the flow of the river is faster, there is a large plane that was used as a teahouse. The bridge has two levels; the lower level has 33 arches and the upper level has two arches above the lower level arch and one arch above the pier. The road of the upper level is protected by high walls to ensure the safety of travelers.
